I'm sure this has been done before, but just wondered if anyone woud like to share ideas on "things to do", anything at all.
I'll start,
A couple of years ago, a friend invited me to join her for coffee and water colour painting! Having not done anything at all since school, 45yrs ago, I was rather dubius about it all, but amazinglyI really enjoyed having a dabble.
I bought myself teach yourself water colour , sketching and acrylic type books, and now I love it.
I must admit that none of my masterpieces would make it to the Natoinal Art Gallery, just for my own enjoyment of course, but I do bore family and friends silly showing them my latest efforts!
I now mix different media together and continue to experiment. I take photos when I'm out on my scooter of anything I fancy having a go at, and a big bonus its fairly gentle on the hands!

Lovely to hear that you have found such an inspiring hobby.I love card making. There are so many materials and technique. I started cardmaking before I had ra and in the months following diagnosis struggled with using my hands but going to workshops really helped me to cope. The others in the classes were very helpful when I couldn't manage and did bits and pieces for me.There was a lovely sense of cameraderie and it made such a big difference.Sadly, the place shut down, but I still get together with friends from time to time.
I did buy myself a small box of paints a while with the intention of using them for cards but never got round to it. About time I did!

I like to make steampunk jewellery at the moment but I'm like a butterfly and tend to flit from fad to fad! I'm also dressing dolls in Steampunk nand Tribal Belly Dancing wear. I have sold a couple of pieces of jewellery on Ebay.

I took up piano playing after I retired - I thought it may help to keep my hands and fingers supple, after leaving behind years of secretarial work.

Now, I'm never going to play the Royal Albert Hall but after learning to read music (with the help of a piano teacher) I can produce some rather pleasing notes (sometimes) and it helps to keep the "little grey cells" active.

You hum it - I'll play it!

I love making jewellery too and am at present teaching my grandson to make earings! I find it an absorbing hobby and really enjoy hunting out rare stones and gems to use. I have also made tiaras in the past, but my hands can't do the very intricate wire bending and soldering now, so I stick to necklaces and earings!

I'm currently looking at getting back into motorcycling! BigGrin

When I'm not feeling too great I enjoy music, writing poems and short stories.

And all my usual geeky stuff too. :)

Sorry to be ignorant but what is Steampunk Jewelry? Does suduko and
crosswords count as a hobby? I used to do a lot of cross stitch and have been
given a new one for Mothers Day. Need to enlarge the chart before I can Star!! Anne

Have a peek at the above Anne. It's a whole combination of Victoriana/Science fiction/steam age etc.

It's also a good way of recycling just about anything!

Looks like a perfectly normal pose to me, but then I do spend a lot of time with Goths in top hats, and people covered in black clothing and makeup :)

Hi all, thanks for posting,
I find the steampunk making quite fascinating, never heard of it before or seen it. I loved the spider and some of the jewelry, it would make a great present with a difference. I'm sure it would sell well in these little special craft shops. We have one in our area where locals have got together and run the shop between them taking it in turns to man it, selling all their own stuff and a few bits of craft making stuff too. Its run as a little gift shop really, by a popular lake and damn in a R.S.P.B. area.
Maria I do a bit of card making too, just for family and friends. I've sometimes used small water colour paintings on these, but have found its best to use proper water colour paper, or pictures buckle. Ink and paint works well, just a fine marker is O.K. to use if you want a bit of definition. Enjoy.
Jean I love doing crafty stuff with my grandchildren, we get more time don't we. I've never tried jewelry myself, but two of our girls brought their xmas sets around the other day for me to help them. We had a good time. The one set included sort of friendship type neclaces and bracelets using silks and incorperatng beads shells etc. if that makes sence. Quite fancy it myself. I have bought one of the Osboune childrens books of crafty stuff and ideas. Its very popular when they come round at babysitting times.
Ellie, well done with the piano playing, the furthest I ever got was a recorder! Did try the violin once, but gave up after 2 lessons. Would love to be able to play something though, have always fancied the clarinet, but would prob. be no better on that than the recorder!
Joanne, you are very adventurous with the motor cycling. My scooter is about my limit! Well done with the poems and short stories. Do you share them around for others to read, or have you had any published? I love reading, but am not imaginative enough to write anything myself.
Anne, Yes crosswords and suddoku definately count. I bought myself a D.S.Exell. There's loads of good games to be had to play on there, can get games second hand too. I am in the middle of doing a cross stitch, an under the water scene, am going to put it in the bathroom when its finished, or should I say if its finished! At the rate I'm going I'll still be at it when I'm 90! Thats if the fingers are still working then! I've got another couple waiting to be done too
Thanks all Zena x.
